On September 21st , Professor Danieres Shekhtman, the 2011 Nobel Prize winner(Chemistry), is invited to give a lecture on “scientific innovation” at HFU and Professor Wang Qidong, president of HFU, awards him the “Honorary Professor” certificate.
    Danieres Shekhtman, an Israeli chemist, who won the 2011 Nobel Prize for his accomplishment in the icosahedral quasicrystal phase, is a professor at both Israel Institute of Technology and Iowa State University(USA), and assistant at Ames Laboratory of United States Department of Energy. When he worked at National Institute of Standards and Technology(USA), he found the icosahedral quasicrystal phase, which set a new landmark for the research in this area and led him to the Nobel Prize. 
    In the lecture, Professor Danielle Shechtman makes a comparison of the status quo of scientific research in Israel and China respectively, which reflects the current problems in China, such as the aging population and lack of scientific and technological talent. He hopes China, like Israel, would cultivate children’s interest in scientific research from an early age.
