From May 21 to 28, Zhou Fei, Vice Chair of HFU Council, led a delegation to visit Singapore and Australia. For the high-quality educational internationalization of HFU, the delegation visited multiple universities and educational institutions.

Visit to Singapore: Focus on University Cooperation, Consolidate the Exchange Foundation

From May 22 to 23, the delegation visited several universities and educational institutions in Singapore.

On the morning of May 22, the delegation visited the Graduate School of Public Administration at Nanyang Technological University to discuss graduate students and faculty exchange programs as well as faculty qualification and capability enhancement projects. Both sides reached a preliminary consensus on faculty training and explored ways to enhance international teaching capabilities through short-term visits, joint teaching, and workshops. In the afternoon, the delegation visited Curtin Singapore and James Cook University Singapore for follow-up cooperation in relevant programs and courses.

On the morning of May 23, the delegation met with Chen Weiquan, Vice President of the Singapore Institute of Management. Both sides agreed to cooperate on student overseas academic exchanges, faculty and staff exchanges, student overseas summer semesters, and integrated Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree programs, and signed a friendly cooperation agreement.

In the afternoon, the delegation visited the Chinese Embassy in Singapore. They paid a visit to Minister-Counselor Han Jun from the Education Office, briefing him on the University’s development and international cooperation for further support from the Embassy.

Visit to Australia: Expand Diverse Cooperation, Deepen Practical Exchange

From May 25 to 27, the delegation visited Australia, focusing on the University’s development strategy, actively engaging with universities and educational institutions, expanding areas of cooperation, which has injected new momentum into the University’s internationalization and “Belt and Road” educational collaboration.

On May 25, the delegation visited the University of Technology Sydney. The two sides held talks around the development of emerging disciplines and the transformation of scientific research achievements, and reached a preliminary agreement on establishing a regular academic exchange mechanism. Afterwards, 2025 overseas talent recruitment promotion for Hefei University was jointly organized with the student unions of Australian National University and University of Canberra.   

On the morning of May 26th, the delegation visited the University of Canberra and conducted in-depth exchanges at the Faculty of Education. Talks on joint education, credit recognition, long-term and short-term exchanges of teachers, and scientific research cooperation were held with Executive Dean Prof. Barney Dalgarno, Teaching Director Peter Carling.

In the afternoon, the delegation went to the Chinese Embassy in Australia to visit Minister-counsellor Li Wei of the Education Office and introduced to him the progress of international cooperation of HFU, who then gave some suggestions on expanding Sino-Australian education cooperation. Subsequently, the delegation visited the University of Wollongong for working meetings on 2+2 joint undergraduate programs in materials science, summer schools, semester exchange programs, and reached a consensus on cooperation in the field of materials science.

On May 27, the delegation visited Monash University and the Global Business College of Australia, learning about discipline development and research platform construction, and discussing project collaborations and the commercialization of research outcomes, striving for breakthroughs in the cultivation of applied talents and industry-education integration. 

A series of substantial cooperation memorandum and agreements were signed on teacher-student exchanges, scientific research cooperation, talent cultivation, and teacher training, which will promote the high-quality development of HFU’s internationalization.
